In the electric haze of the 1980s, amidst pop-rock beats and neon lights, a group of disparate teenagers were thrust into a Saturday detention at Shermer High School. The Breakfast Club, under the direction of John Hughes, forever changed the landscape of teen movies.

Molly Ringwald (Claire Standish – The Princess)

After playing Claire Standish, the high-maintenance princess of the breakfast club, Molly Ringwald went on to have a flourishing career in film and TV. She became a staple of teen films, starring in hits like Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink. The actress later took on more mature roles and even ventured into the world of music, releasing a jazz album titled “Except Sometimes”.

In terms of her television career, she notably appeared in The Secret Life of the American Teenager and had a role in Riverdale, the CW’s dark reimagining of the Archie comics. She spent the majority of the 90’s living in Paris, but returned to the states in 2003. Molly also penned a collection of essays and is married to Panio Gianopoulos, with whom she shares three children.

Emilio Estevez (Andrew Clark – The Athlete)

Following his portrayal of Andrew Clark, the committed athlete, Emilio Estevez remained in the spotlight with numerous movies. Films like Young Guns, Mighty Ducks, and its sequel saw Estevez in lead roles. He reprised his role as coach Gordon Bombay in the Disney series, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Estevez’s directorial ventures also garnered attention.

He left Game Changers after the first season over “creative differences” but later mentioned he was suffering from Long Covid. The studio was apparently pressuring him to return to work, despite his concerning symptoms.

In 1992 Estevez married pop-singer, Paula Abdul, although it ended after two years. He is the son of Martin Sheen and the brother of Charlie Sheen, making acting a family tradition.

Anthony Michael Hall (Brian Johnson – The Brain)

Brian Johnson, the genuine geek of the group, was played by Anthony Michael Hall. After The Breakfast Club, Hall made waves with Weird Science and enjoyed a stint on Saturday Night Live. His diversified roles include appearances in blockbusters like Edward Scissorhands and The Dark Knight.

Hall’s television career has been equally impressive, with roles in The Dead Zone and CSI: NY. Hall married wife Lucia Hall in 2020 and the couple recently welcomed their first child together.

Judd Nelson (John Bender – The Criminal)

Judd Nelson, who played John Bender, the rebellious criminal, continued to make a mark post-The Breakfast Club. Movies like Billionaire Boys Club and St. Elmo’s Fire kept him in the public eye. Nelson made cameos in TV shows such as CSI, Family Guy, and Two and a Half Men.
