Alien: Earth has been playing a long game with themes of control, loyalty, and survival. Episode 4 dropped a lot of breadcrumbs, and episode 5 looks ready to tie several threads together.
Wendyโs Strange Role: Becoming the Queen?
From the start, Wendyโs (Sydney Chandler) bond with the xenomorphs felt different. By episode 4, itโs clear she can communicate with them. Not just hear them, but actually make them obey. That puts her in a โqueenโ position, whether she wants it or not.
Think back to Hermitโs (Alex Lawther) lung chestburster moment. The creature went from violent to docile in seconds. It did so because it recognized Wendy as higher on the food chain. Thatโs not something seen in the Alien franchise outside of actual queens.
So where does that take her? It pushes her directly into conflict. Wendy sympathizes with the xenos now, hearing their cries and comparing their suffering to her own. Sheโs always been against experimenting on them, and episode 5 looks like the moment she takes a harder stance. Whether you love that twist or find it a little too much, itโs going to matter. It could even give her the leverage she needs to protect Hermit.
Slightlyโs Breaking Point
Slightly (Adarsh Gourav) is a mess of contradictions, childlike but powerful, scared but dangerous. Morrow (Babou Ceesay) has him under total control, dangling threats to his family to keep him obedient. Itโs no wonder he lashes out at Hermit, jealous and bitter about the one hybrid who still has family nearby.
By episode 5, Slightly seems ready to snap. The safest bet is that he abducts Hermit and drags him to the egg chamber, setting up Hermit as a host. Itโs grim, but it matches the way his frustration has been boiling over.
The wild card is Wendy. Sheโs not going to sit back and let her brother become a breeding ground. With the xenos behind her, she might even put Slightly down for good.
Boy Kavalier and His House of Cards

Kavalierโs (Samuel Blenkin) obsession with control keeps circling back. He wants dominance over the hybrids, the research, the money, and the future. Episode 5 may finally start cracking that image.
Remember the moment Wendy asked him how heโd feel if someone cut him open. That wasnโt sass. It felt like foreshadowing. Thereโs a chance he ends up impregnated or at least forced into a choice between protecting Hermit and saving his investment. Either way, his empire looks shakier by the day.
Kirsh: The Quiet Watcher
Kirsh (Timothy Olyphant) has been fascinating. For a synthetic, he shows flashes of emotion, anger, frustration, and even subtle defiance. He knows what Morrow is doing to Slightly, yet he doesnโt step in. Why? Maybe heโs waiting for the right moment. Maybe he wants to see how far things go.
Episode 5 will likely keep him in observer mode, but that wonโt last forever. Kirsh feels like the character being set up for a game-changing move, possibly in episode 6.
Nibs and the Cracks in Prodigy
Then thereโs Nibs (Lily Newmark), the most โhumanโ of the hybrids. Her mental breakdown has spiraled into believing sheโs pregnant, which already led to her attacking Dame Sylvia. That puts her in dangerous territory, both to herself and to Prodigy.
In episode 5, expect attempts to โreprogramโ or restrain her, but the trailers suggest she breaks free. Shots of her with blood on her face and tearing things apart hint at a full-on rebellion moment. If that happens, she might become the spark that pushes the hybrids to openly fight back.
The Sylvia Couple and Doubt
Arthur Sylvia (David Rysdahl) has been visibly shaken by the direction of the experiments. His moral compass is at odds with Kavalierโs ruthless ambition. Episode 5 could be the moment he voices that dissent and maybe even shifts sides. His wife, on the other hand, might not be so quick to break ranks.
The tension between them adds another thread that could fracture Prodigyโs grip on the hybrids.
Monsters in the Mix
Finally, we canโt forget the monsters themselves. Hermitโs lung chestburster has likely grown into a drone by now, and the trailers show it stalking the facility. Itโs not hard to imagine it breaking loose fully by episode 6.
That adds another layer of chaos: hybrids rebelling, Prodigy soldiers scrambling, and a drone hunting in the middle of it all. Classic Alien storytelling proves again that science spirals into hubris, and the monsters remind everyone whoโs really in charge.

Daniel fell in love with movies at the ripe old age of four, thanks to a towering chest of drawers filled with VHS tapes. Which, let’s face it, was the original Netflix binge-watch. Ever since then, this lifelong movie buff has been on a relentless quest for cinematic greatness, particularly obsessed with sci-fi, drama, and action flicks. With heroes like Nolan, Villeneuve, and Fincher guiding the way, and a special soft spot for franchises where aliens, androids, and unstoppable cyborgs duke it out (think Terminator, Predator, Alien, and Blade Runner), Daniel continues to live life one epic movie marathon at a time.
